Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island called West Island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of different communities. People who have never known about it may confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often referenced, however her brief visit to the West Island wasn't. Brugel became an aspiring young lady in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. But, a growing rate increased her height and she outgrew all of the dance partners she was able to have. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I outgrew my male companions, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case it was because of the advice from her drama teacher in high school who pushed her to take the step she required. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to take on a part in the school's annual production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal part in Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her BA in Fine Arts at York University. Since then, she's appeared involved in more than 60 shows, large and small. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare instances in the initial season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the sole Canadian participant.
